JULIE WALSH

Julie commenced her legal career as an in house legal officer at an outer Sydney Metropolitan Council, then moved to private practice in a Sydney based law firm with a specialty in local government and planning law. During this time Julie practiced not only local government and planning law but property law, commercial law, general litigation and criminal law.

Julie became a partner in 1987 and in 2001 that firm merged with another Sydney based law firm with a specialty in local government and planning law acting for a large number of Councils as well as corporate and individual clients.

Since 2001 Julie has concentrated on local government and planning law, as well as property law pertaining to Councils and compulsory acquisition law acting for acquiring authorities as well as dispossessed owners.

Julie has extensive experience in all classes of the Land and Environment Court covering development appeals, enforcement, administrative review, prosecutions, and valuation matters.

She is a former member of the Law Society of New South Wales Planning and Development Committee, and currently sits on a number of Local Planning Panels as chair or expert member.
